Default Exhaust

I have a 96 2.8 12v. The most unfriendly to mods there is. I want a throatier more powerful exhaust, but i know it wont make a difference in performance, or will it? If it wont do anything for the performance, should i invest in a full exhaust, or just do a muffler. Ive been looking at the Magnaflow 14815, any ideas? thanks.

Since the muffler is most of the cost, you might as well do a full cat back system. You might get 5-10hp, i dont know for sure.

Instead of a full cat back which is around 700 right? THe mufflers only 180ish. I saw someone do what looked like straight pipes from the catalytic converters to just the tips. Any further thoughts on that?

My thought is that straight pipes without a resonator or muffler would be gross.

Is the ID on the resonator 2.5" or 2.25"?
