Default Exhaust install quote.....good or bad??

Went to a very good exhaust shop today that I was referred to by many, and they quoted me $600 to install 2 cats, 2 flex pipes, a resonator and a muffler- all aftermarket. They claim that the stock piping is in fact 2" (-not 2.25") and want to put in a new Y pipe and new piping between the resonator and muffler. Does this sound reasonable??

if that includes the price of hardware, not just the labor to install, then yea thats not a bad deal.

definitely sounds reasonable to me, but define "aftermarket". make sure you check out the parts before they go on, don't wanna get stuck with knock off mufflers or somethin =/

OH NO !!...lol...yeah, so...that price IS all labour plus the Y piping and exhaust pipe (between res and muff)! I have already SEPARATELY bought a magnaflow 14816, a vibrant resonator, 2 Vibrant flex pipes, and 2 Vibrant HFC Metal core cats....Then I took these to a reputable shop to get an estimate on the install...
So they want to replace the piping from the cat-back (I don't think I will do this!) because I intend on putting on 2.5" flex pipes and cats and they claim stock size is 2" and suggest it's best to change the piping then to weld the different sizes. Only thing is, the resonator and magnaflow then go back to 2.25" because that's what I thought stock was (-so maybe I've messed things up a bit here).

So they want ~$300 for labour + $120 for new Y piping + $80 for more new piping + some extra costs for shop supplies and what not.

I'll measure the stock piping tomorrow and make a decision. I think I will get them to install the parts on the stock piping despite the fact that they are different sizes. What do you think?

P.S. After all this running around for parts in the last few weeks, there is no way in hell I am considering changing the parts I already have! lol.

Yeah that cant be a good price... I'm looking to get my whole exhaust done for right around that price. Im giving him nothing except for the money and probably the muffler, if i can find one with a 3 in. inlet.....

If its stainless steel its about right. If its regular pipe then it should be around 300 I would think since your providing parts.
