Default Factory HID swap

Hey guys, I never really post because I can almost always find the info I need by searching. I can’t find what I’m looking for so I am asking.

I currently have a 99.5 A4 and I am buying my wife a 00 A4 to replace the Legacy GT she wrecked on Christmas Eve. I am going to steal a couple of parts from the car I am buying her before she gets it. One of the things I want to take off is the factory HID headlights. Mine currently has an aftermarket HID setup in it and they work great but I would rather have factory stuff. Is it simply a matter of swapping headlights and plug them in or is there much more involved then that?

I have tried to find a write up on this and can’t seem to track one down and I know it’s been done several times. Any help is appreciated.

It's a direct bolt-on, plug-in replacement.

Both halogen ecodes and OEM HID set-up have the same D-connector, and the wiring configuration, as long as yours haven't been hacked off.
