hey this is a stupid question i know but i did do a quick search...


i got my 710n DV and am goign to replace my stock one

I have a 2000 and i can only find the replacement DIY for a pre facelift one....so is tehre a DIY for facelift b5's???? PLEASE let me know!!

I need to leave very quick so any insight will help me im a noob when it comes to audi's

I dont know what a facelift b5 is but it doesnt sound like it should affect a dv replacement. If you search for 5 mins you should find plenty of DIY help and I probably should leave it at that but....

The first thing you need to do is locate the dv, this requires jacking up the front of the car and taking off the plastic protector under the engine. Since you have a new dv, you already know what it looks like. I beleive the dv is located on the passenger side and towards the front bumber (kinda near the turbo). There are 3 hoses connected to it, make a note of exactly where these hoses connect. Then carefully remove the hoses. It can be a slight PITA because of the 'barbs' on the dv (look at the 710n). The new dv should look exactly like the old one. Connect the hoses to the new dv and use zip ties or whatever to make a secure connection. Thats about it. Good luck.

 

find your turbo. find the large hose coming out of it connecting to a pipe under the front bumper that spans the whole front of the car. in the middle of that hose, there is a smaller hose coming out of the side of it. follow this hose to your current DV. replace it with your new one. enjoy.

Just make sure you put it in the correct way, with the valve sitting on its side with the side tube going into the turbo charge hose and the bottom of the valve to the return hose.

valve will be on either the top or bottom of that hose i'm holding (yours will be on the bottom)

 

on the facelifts its so easy... jack up the car .. take off the skid plate... and look to the passanger tire.. the old dv will be right in your face... just pull it out and pop the new one in.. takes 15min tops

 

k thanks got it, just have never tried it before so i didnt want to miss anything... very easy though

 

Note:
yes it might installed either way and installed by Audi either way, but the diaphram will not last very long if put in with boost hitting the bottom of the valve since this means there is pressure being put on both sides of the diaphram. Only works for "stock" boost levels. So when ever using a diaphram type of valve like the stock Bosch valve it should always be installed facing the same direction as pictured above.
