Finally my first Audi a4 1.8t
Hello everyone, after receiving tons of info on my first thread about a a4 I was seeking out I skipped it and kept looking. Good thing I did because I ended up with a much cleaner, lower km, and cheaper a4 in the end. I found this 2000 Audi a4 on kijiji and it was being sold privately. I paid 5,500 for it with 114,000 km's. The car came with a set of winters and is quattro. She is super clean and just had the timing belt replaced. I know the front brakes are the first thing that need a changing but the rears were just done. Anyways here she is

These cars or at least this one really isn't to jumpy to start but as soon as she gets around 3500 rpm and the turbo kicks in she's great. O yeah mine is automatice, I drive in Toronto a lot so manual is a pain. The handling is amazing but what are some ways to increase the lower end torque of the car and also what are good replacement brakes for the front (pads and rotors). Im pretty noob at these things so please any info anyone can share is greatly appreciated.

if you arent getting turbo til 3500 rpms, sounds like it has been modified. i dont think any owner of a stock 1.8t would complain of a lack of lown end torque. thats all the stock turbo is good for
Whereabouts in Toronto? Daily driving a manual 1.8t is no problem unless you're constantly stuck in stop and go traffic, but then again with that mileage you can't complain. It should be making full boost before 2500 RPM, something's wrong if you feel that it doesn't have enough torque. It could be just that it feels slow, auto 1.8t's feel like slugs compared to manuals, that transmission is much better suited for the 2.8
Finding a manual one that hasn't been modified/abused is difficult. The 1.8t is for gas milage and just reading the forums it sounds liek they are alot more fun to tinker with. I work all around brampton, scarbourgouh, vaughn enough areas where I dont constantly feel like driving a stick, guess im lazy.
I was really looking into an aftermarket air intake? Is this a recommended mod for this car? APR Audi A4 (B5) 1.8T Carbon Fiber Cold Air Intake System
This looks pretty nifty

There's really no point in an intake for a bone stock car, read around these forums and audizine and you'll get an idea of what kinds of things you can do to these motors.
Are you sure it isnt exactly the opposite? My low end sucks. As far as I knew the stock KO3 kicks in around 2600 and tappers off as RPMs increase after that.
Up at the top of the forum is a sticky post for new owners. It give you a ton of good info. As for brakes, if you have 16" wheels, go with the A8/TT brake upgrade. It's a great mod - significant increase in stopping power for the money. It will not fit under 15" wheels though.
