Default FMIC on 2001 A4 (piping question)

Hey guys,

We installed my FMIC this weekend with the EBAY kit. I must say everything is great now but I want to reroute my piping on the passenger side (to turbo) so it doesn't sit so low. It is routed under the powersteering / ac hoses right now.

I think the pre-2000's did not come with this but right I have this round box that is in the way of making a much nicer path.

My question is...what do you guys do with the secondary airpump that is normally where the piping & blue coupler on this DIY pic is.

Cheers!

-Trav.

PM mike@dth, I bet he can get you a relocating bracket that will move it out of the way.

Well what most people do is take off the pump and put a resistor on it so you don't get a CEL

Or just relocate it.

i still have not read of a definitive way to remove it without a CEL. i thought i read somewhere that you might be able to avoid the CEL for the pump itself, but then theres something related to the o2 sensor? idk i cant remember and its late and im tired so im not searching right now. but if you know where the info is on deleting it properly can you link to it? thanks

Thanks guys.

I'm sure we can fab a bracket if needed so thats good to hear. I need to get this done this weekend as i need to get my front bumper back on the car, its my DD haha.

I took some pictures tonight after work so thanks again if we are on the same page. The box in red is my concern right now

When you follow the piping from that box it goes to the back of the engine at the top of the firewall. Can we delete it from the elbow by the valve cover (right on top the turbo) or do I have to relocate that whole box somewhere else?

Right now it's sitting like this...

I need that piping to come over top those hoses as it sits too low right now. I am slamming the car as soon as the intercooler is finished and would prefer the piping not to rub

I just moved the thing a bit out of the way, but I left it there. My trick was that I used a rubber pipe.

Here's my writeup from when I did the install:

And what did you end up doing about the MAP sensor? Here's my writeup on that if you need:

The valve on the back of the head can actually be flipped so the inlet for the SAI is facing the other direction towards the driverside of the car. You can always relocate the SAI over on that side of the car if you need too, you just need to extend the wires.
