Default DIY - MAP/boost sensor for FMIC install

This DIY is for eBay or otherwise custom FMIC installs on cars that have a boost/MAP sensor on the stock SMIC (2000+).

After you remove the SMIC, take off the sensor by removing the two bolts. Make sure the o-ring is still intact. If not, you'll want to pick up a replacement. Hang on to the nuts and bolts, you'll need them later.

Since I got a 2.5" pipe kit from eBay, I got a couple straight pipes included with that. I cut one of these straight pipes to a few inches, cut it depending on how long you need it for your install. I chose to make it about 1.5" longer on each side.

After you have this cut, clean up the edges. I used a grinder but you could use a file. This is so you don't cut yourself or the other pipes.

Next you want to cut out a hole for the boost sensor and two holes for the bolts. I forget the exact sizes for these, but it's pretty easy to tell what sizes they should be. Some people use a tap and die but I made them about the right size and used my bolts to make the right threading. Again, clean up the holes after you make the cuts. I also flattened the pipe on this side a bit to make a tighter connection.

After you mount the boost sensor, use either JB weld or make-a-gasket (I used blue make-a-gasket) to have an air tight seal. I put it on the outside of each bolt and the sensor, then on the inside of each as well to make sure it's good and sealed.

This is the DIY way.. your other choice is to buy a premade one of these or take it to your local muffler shop to have them weld a "bung" onto it. Some people argue that the "bung" method may take the sensor out of the boost stream so they reccommend not to go this route, which is the same as I'd suggest...... YMMV.

Let me know if there are any mistakes in this DIY.
