Default Fmic for stock ko3? (Eventually frankenturbo)

So I'm thinking I want to buy a fmic for my 1.8t, currently it just has a stock ko3 (peakin at 13-14 psi) that will be rebuilt over the summer (191k on original turbo) then in maybe a year I'm gunna drop a frankenturbo in. So my question is, what size piping should I get and should I wait until I get a ft to install it? I was thinking 2.25" tubing Godspeed (open to other brands but hard to beat $225 for a new kit), that way it shouldn't effect my performance other then a little more lag and i less heatsock during hot days, but when I get my frankenturbo would 2.25" be big enough? Or should I forget about the fmic for now and get a high flow cat to reduce the restriction of the exhaust gases (can't get a downpipe unfortuantly)?

The piping on my setup is from an older Godspeed kit, and is 2". You don't need anything larger than 2" for a FrankenTurbo setup, and larger piping may just increase spool time without any additional gains (especially for the K03).

A HFC (high flow cat) would be a more worthy purchase IMO at this point. You'll want one (or a test pipe) with the FrankenTurbo anyways, and at least with that you'll get noticeable gains in the short term.

Alright, I'll wait a bit for the fmic and get a cat soon (I have the original one at 191k so it's probably pretty plugged at this point anyway)

I don't think godspeed makes a fmic with smaller then 2.5" pipes, which is too big. Ill figure it out after I put a new hfc on, but if anybody knows cheap but good fmic with less then 2.5" pipes I would love a link...

Where are you seeing that? I see that they list the intercooler inlet/outlet size at 2.5", but the piping should still be 2".

http://www.ebay.com/itm/320778015668?redirect=mobileIf the inlet and outlet are 2.5", why would the piping be 2"? It wouldn't fit on the ends unless its tapered

It is quite common to use 2.5" inlet/outlet with 2" piping.
If you look at the two blue couplers on the right, they are transition couplers. Those should transition from the 2.5" inlet/outlet to 2" pipes.

Oh gotcha, thanks for the info. By the way are you liking your frankenturbo? Worth the $$?

Same, but it's gunna have to wait awhile. For the frakenturbo, tune, and fmic which ill probably do at the same time is gunna be like $1400 (with $200 discount from slappy) maybe more. Minimum wage and saving for college=lack of modding money for my car
