Exclamation fog lights....

hey, i noticed that inside my car has 2 fog light switches, first switch is obvious cuz they light up the front of the car... but what does the second switch do?

and also i noticed my fog lights arent in my bumper like a lot of other a4's i see, they are in my light housing.. is that normal to have a 3 light set? i have a 96 non quattro... anyways just thought i would ask and compare lol

1996 B5 is the pre-facelift. In which it came with two-piece headlights and no foglights on bumper.
1999.5-2001.5 are the facelifted ones. They came with one piece headlights and foglights on the bumper.

As for the second switch, it should light up the rear foglight. However, there's only ONE that supposed to light up so don't worry if that's what you see.

Ok, so i thought i had a burnt out 2nd rear foglight.....you are telling me there is only ONE? Somehow that seems odd. It looks like there is a light on both sides....
Do you know if there is a way to mod this so that both rear lights come on when the rear foglight button is pressed?

for the second rear fog light, I think you just need a bulb. plus there is a little plastic piece that you might need to break to get the bulb in there

The facelift models have a spot for a second bulb on the passenger's side bulb holder, all you gotta do is add it. Pre-facelift isn't as easy, involves drilling and soldering and yada yada yada.

why do pre-facelifts always have to be so difficult ?!

I wouldnt even mess with it in that case. the rear light is so other cars can see you, and Audi only recommends that you use it in extreme circumstances, so 2 bulbs is overkill

Prefacelift only needs the hole put into the housing (mine had a slot there that I widened for the bulb). The bulb tree is already powered - just pop a bulb in and you're golden.
