Default A follow up to my boost problems

If you never read, i got speedtuning stg2 tuning which is a 18-20 psi file. Well around the 200 mile full adaption mark, the tune shut off at 10psi. I checked my n75, n249 and did a boost leak test. I had 1 small leak and fixed it. both n valves checked out okay. I took it for a test drive and car still did the same thing, hit 10 psi and quickly fell to 5psi by 5k rpm..

Frustrated and confused as to why my car was being a bitch, i swapped ecu's with a buddy who has a neuspeed 1.1 bar chip and took it for a test drive. My car boosted right up and held it strong as hell. He took my ECU and couldnt get more then 10 out of it.

I call Oliver, who by the way, has given me nothing but the greatest customer service. I explained to him I tested every avenue and would he be willing to rechip my car. He told me to drive back down and he would. I drove down and we rechipped it. This time it wouldnt run. Idled up to 1500 after initial start and fell to 0 and died. Worried something was up with my computer, we burned his 1.0 or 1.1 file to it and she started right up and ran like a champ. Took Oliver for a ride down the street and the needle kept pegging 15-16 psi through the gears and if you held it, it kept creeping up. At the end of 3rd and 4th gear, i was holding 18psi by redline.

I am very pleased with Oliver through the ordeal and very pleased with my tune. It doesnt have the kick you in the *** the stg 2 had, but this is a very smooth, but VERY strong tune and I am very glad I decided to choose this over dealing with the stage 2.

I am not sure if the stage 2 needs a little recoding for the 99.5's (cause i know of 2 others who have had this problem on this exact year of car). I know we are all AEB's, but maybe the computer needs a little something different, i am not sure. But I hope he gets it figured out, because the stage 2 he has to offer is sick. It hauls *** like the a4 should of stock.

Thank you again Oliver for the great service. I do only have abotu 180 miles on this new tune, but I hope it takes and stays on there. I really like it.

Interesting. What is the reasoning though? A chip is just a stick of memory. Did he resolder the dock/chip holder or just swap chips?

Question

are you running 15psi with stock internals...is this ok? i didnt they could handle that, i have a 1999 1.8t and for my senior project i am methanol injecting it and boosting it and looking for suggestions as to a safe amount of boost to run all the time?

The same thing happened to my buddy who has a 99 a4. He was lacking a lot of boost around 4 pounds. His outcome was different though we found out his FMIC was leaking I have a 99.5 A4 and might be looking to chip. I hope I don't expeirence this problem!
