Default Fried my converter I think

99 2.8. I will spare you all the details but I believe my converter is bad now on my A4. I found out it has two converters and both have oxygen sensors after them which means to just throw them out with only a "patch pipe" is going to throw a code. I need to know how to fix this without paying the dealership 800+ for a new converter. I wanted to just toss them out but I dont know if there is a way to keep the CEL off afterwards.

Any help?

Yes, you need what is called a "non-fouler". It's basically a spacer that sits between your O2 sensor and the bung-hole to limit the amount of gases that go across the sensor. ECS sells them.

Why don't you just go with used cats and save yourself some $$$. I have a used passenger side cat that i bought from A&P Specialties for $75 (it even included the O2 sensor). I'm having it installed Thursday for $325.

Here's their website: http://www.ap-specialties.com/

or if you want to pass emissions or just not pollute as much, a replacement high-flo cat is under $300.
