i will have access to a full lift this week so i think ill be tinkering on it there. i think ill be able to get it. thanks for the help. so your saying that it will just slide out? are u saying that the band will expand a little by prying it?

The filter is of a constant diameter and the band doesn't compress the filter. So, the band merely holds the filter in place and the lip at the bottom of it keeps the filter from sliding down and out, which it really can't do because the bottom hose and fitting keep it in place as well. Spraying a little silicone or some other lube around the bandwill help it slide down easier.
