Greasing it unfortunately isn't gonna help a few months from now. I know a guy that did his CAs, greased and smoothed the bolt, and went through hell a month later getting it back out. The key is prying the pinches open, spraying antiseize in there, then setting it on fire with a map gas torch and wailing the everloving sh*t out of it with a four-pound sledge. Us NY guys don't have the kindest winters for suspension but with that technique there hasn't been a pinch bolt removal that required more than seven minutes.

Ohio winters are tons of fun, too. Hmmm I tried all of the above except all I had was propane. Hammered a big flat head between the pinches to try to spread them. Got to the point where my sledge mashed the head of the bolt and nut into a pancake. If my tq gun didn't suck I think I could have just spun it out. Thats what they like to do at the dealer.

I just found someone reasonable to fix my roaring wheel bearing and I also told him I'd need the control arms replaced soon as well on my car. He was wondering if its totally necessary to replace all of the pieces that come with the FCP kit, or if you can just replace the parts that are making the noise. I'm assuming that you should use the whole kit, but can I get away with less? Or, as long as you're in there, should you just replace everything?

Yeah the map gas makes the difference. BT, just do it all while you are in there. Chances are if some are worn out, the rest are coming along sooner or later. Just do it and be done, and any that aren't shot you can hold onto as backups in case you hit a curb or something and bend an arm or two.

I kind of figured it was best just to do the whole thing at once so that's what we'll do. Any idea how long it should take to do?

It doesn't say in the ad that it is FCP Grotan, but when I got my package today, thats what it is and who it is from. For some reason I thought that I got the FCP kit (and paid $260,) and then looked and it was from this seller, and was worried that it was something different or maybe not as good... But it's not! The arms and all look very good - machine-wise. No crooked press jobs on the bushings, and the ball joint boots arent flimbsy or anything. Was packaged very well... I'm very hopeful! Can't get to work on this until tomorrow, though

TheDevil and a few other members are happy with his set, and all the feedback on ebay I can find for this kit is positive. Time will tell but so far so good, I'd say. If anyone wants pics of the parts then let me know. Don't know what it'll accomplish for you, but some people just like eye candy.
I'm glad I didn't pull the trigger and buy the kit on another site. I'm sure my savings will find it's way to another part lol. Thanks for the link dude

audiforums.com at it's finest right here... I'm in serious need of front CA's and with all the positive review from some highly acclaimed members, I think we've found a winner. My car is now in Kansas, but I bought it from a guy just east of Syracuse a little over a year ago. He was the second owner, and I believe the original owner was also in upstate NY. Looks like I have some fun lined up in the near future!
