this happened to me like 2 months ago. Pulled out the sending unit and sure enought the lil wire was broken....
this are the steps I followed:

thanks man looks like a bit of work is required but i will do my best and try it how long did it take you?

It looks more involved than it is. Be sure to open the gas cap first to vent pressure or you may get a Jenna Jameson-worthy gas facial. It'll take you half an hour to 45 minutes probably - once you get into it, it goes pretty quickly.

awasome man my dad is worried about the solder gun catching the gas on fire

Yeah just crimp a jumper wire onto the broken ends. And you don't have to run it under the boom either - I added about 3" of wire and looped it up and over th arm. It doesn't interfere with it and works fine. While you're at it too, clean all the traces and solder points with electrical contact cleaner and it should be good as new.

Personally, I'd remove it and wash the gas off and solder it properly (with a soldering IRON) if the wire's broken.

fvckin hilarious. I laughed at that about as hard as when ghost (I think...) said the line about how removing the oil filter from the bottom is for idiots and women.

Hey guys i just wanna thank you for all your help i did it the wire was still in tacked seemed all little rusty but i know its still working so i cleaned all the contacts the sensor put it all back together started the car the gauge seemed to work right i drove it around the block and i can see the gauge move a bit going up hill so i know its working now took me an hour so yeah i recommend this to everyone 4 out of 10 on how diffacult is was
