Default Gas Mileage on your V6 A4?

I recently bought a used 2000 Audi A4 with the 2.8 litre V6 engine. One thing I noticed is the poor gas mileage I am getting. I am not driving this car hard at all and it seems I am getting like 16-17 mpg and my trip computer says I am getting 19.1??? I'd think I would get 20 mpg combined but it doesn't seem that way. My RPM's do seem a bit to high. For example, when traveling 60mph, my RPM is about 2750 in fifth gear.

My last car was a 2000 Nissan Sentra SE 2.0 and that car got 25-30 mpg. At 60mph that had an RPM of about 2850 in fifth gear.

Does this gas mileage and RPM seem normal to you V6 drivers?

gas milliage is normal for age and idk how many miles you have but do this

throttle body clean
seafoam the car
check spark plugs
check coil packs
check vacumm leaks
make sure your oil is clean
tire pressure
and check vagcom codes to see if you have bad 02's sensors
these cars rev high at those speeds dont worry about the rpm's this engine was built like a tank and there no issue's going 300k plus miles on this engine

Also, use Vag Com to check your sensors. Mainly the coolant temp sensor. If the temp reading is off, it won't necessary throw a code, but your performance/gas mileage will degrade
Mine gets around 20MPG -mainly city driving

The car only has 98,000 miles and I do more city driving also.

I will check those suggestions to see if I can get a difference in mpg

I just got my A4 about a month ago. 5 speed, and I average 25 mpg with 80% highway driving. I have a CEL though, running lean on both banks 1 & 2 (was told it means a bad MAF), and bad coolant temp sensor. I haven't done any tune up procedures as yet. 145,000 miles.

My B5 gets around 16 mpg in the city during the winter. Highway driving is much better, usually around 24-27 mpg. My B5 is a Tiptronic automatic, though.
