The "chip" you mentioned is worthless. The third hit on a Google search is this:

GForce Chip Revealed | Uncovering the facts about a potential rip-off

I would bet if you opened up that case there's either nothing in it at all or a small resistor. If I recall correctly, performance chips of this design just tweak electrical signals to your MAF and/or IAT sensor. They don't actually do anything to improve performance.

The GIAC chip you mentioned in your second post advances timing to provide more tq and hp. But to me, $300+ for single digit tq/hp increases isn't worth the cost.

For future posts, it's helpful to add details about your car like model year, engine code, transmission, and any existing modifications. That will make it easier for people to answer your questions and provide accurate information for you. Most of us just add this info to our signatures (like I did) so you don't have to type it out every time you make a post.

TL;DR: Gforce is garbage, save your money.

Wow these resisotor "chip" makers are getting real crafty, I remember when they literally were just a through-hole resistor in a universal box or wrapped in heatshrink. Also, even the legitimate chips for the 2.8 do absolutely nothing apart from increasing the rev limiter (useless) and advancing the timing by a miniscule amount, you'd get more power back spending that money on maintenance.

Another good point. Take part of that $300 and spend it on a tune up and you'd get back a good amount of power. Spend some time on weight reduction and you've got yourself some free horsepower.

Not embarrassing at all man. Even with a million mods, there are only a few important ones as far as giving accurate basic technical advice. Lots of guys only include model year, engine code and transmission.
