Giac chip- group buy!
Yeah I understand, I'm in a similar position. I went with the Forge because I had the money, but there is nothing wrong with the TT DV 710N. You can get it for $50-$60.
The group buy will be open through the weekend. I'll probably be contacting AWE back on Monday. The offer will be open until then.
...did you hear that...I think it's Santa's sleigh bells. Haha, maybe you'll find a DV early in your stocking.

You'll introduce yourself to a whole new set of issues including spiking and poor running conditions. Don't waste your time with a MBC, I don't want to see another thread about "weird boost problems with MBC."
This engine and software has been around long enough that a quality chip-tuner such as GIAC can squeeze the most out of your setup. Copy-cat burns like SpeedTuning will never be able to push your engine safely to the max... because they didn't write the software. I still can't believe so many people jumped on a ST group buy when they have notoriously caused nothing but issues and have been regarded as poorly tuned chips and do not achieve the boost levels of GIAC.
GIAC also offers customer support and discounted upgrades for K04, GTRS, and other BT files including GT2871r and GT30 setups. No reason to wait, even if you are considering a larger turbo in the near future.
GIAC additionally offers TIP chips and 1998-2001 V6 30v software as well as 2000-2002 S4 software (looking into V6 30v to see if group buy can be expanded with this option. Please post here is interested with model info.)
ST offers, uh, Ceramic Oil. It makes your oil more slippery. So you're going to trust your software to a company that sells "Power Lube," A.K.A. "Snake Oil"?!?
There are a lot of chip-tuners, but GIAC has a great reputation with Porsche, Audi, VW, and BMW. AWE offers good customer support in conjunction with GIAC's high-quality software.
Ditch your ST and APR chips and jump on this group buy!!!
If they have your A4 application listed here, please express interest and info can be forwarded to AWE to request to add to group buy:

Ha. Speetuning is spiking at 23 PSI at times, but majority of the time 21 PSI. What does GIAC spike at again? My speetuning chip out performs my buddies GIAC and APR chips in their Jetta and A4. I have the 2001 Manual, and I payed less than half what they did and am still faster with no issues whatsoever after 65K (maybe that's because know my Audi's; therefore, don't blame the software...it works everytime!!!
GAIC also wont bugger your cat due to pig-rich fuel maps like ST. I'd like to see how many cats get replaced shortly after ST install vs. GIAC install.
And last, Jetta is a totally different car than A4, and if you're going to claim "outperforming" anyone, better have some lap times, track times, or videos to back it up. Saying your A4 is faster than someone elses car means nothing. Lets see some boost logs and track times of a ST vs. GIAC on the same car. I think we know know what the results will be. There is a reason GIAC is considered one of the best chiptuners in the industry.
You do realize that boost spike is not an indication of how well the chip performs... many chips spike high, but wont hold the pressure. This would be indicative of questionable hardware or a bad tune.

if you dont have numbers, then you cant claim numbers- is all hes saying.
quattro also means more drivetrain losses. i doubt either car is at the power level where spinning tires is that much of a problem. if you put the two on a dyno, i would put money on the jetta having more power. if both of you had 400 horsepower, yes quattro can put more power to the ground faster on lesser tires.
a test pipe may give you a small boost in MPG by removing some restriction, but the speedtuning software dumping out more fuel then necessary is going to negate any gains there. sorry, i work in a quality lab and do testing comparing my companies products to competitors products and my data goes to the legal team so they know exactly what they can and cannot claim. for me, no data = no claim.
my APR chip doesnt spike ever. it hits 18psi and holds it until about 4700, then gradually drops to 15 psi until 5500, at which point i shift. it produces a better power band then a car with spikes and sags all over the place. it also doesnt run rich so my gas milage is in the upper 20s (depending on how i drive).
because most people would agree. he didnt say the absoloute-over-the-top-bar-none best ever everyone else sucks, he just said they are one of the top companies out there, which is true.
speedtuning opened its doors in the US 8 years ago, GIAC has been here almost 2 decades. speedtuning offers little to no customer service (widely agreed upon statement), no software for anything but a stock engine, GIAC has fantastic customer support and also offers discounts on future software purchases and software files for many big turbo applications.
The Jetta situation is a bit different because that B5 1.8T comes with 180 from the factory versus the 170HP that my Audi came with, but the Tunes gives the car the same power, and since they are both manuals and have somewhat the same weight Audi has 3241 (Quattro which means better launch) or so and the VW has 2952 (lighter vehicle) or so, I would call it safe to say my ST is faster

Talking about proof; where yours that sais GIAC is the best in the industry? Why?

First, the number of posts on some member board mean absolutely NOTHING! I could have worked on Audi's all my life (including performance) and have ZERO posts, so in reality "MORE POSTS" means nothing for the most part. Anyway, I never called anyone "DIPSHITS", so you can take your out of context crap elsewhere. IF your software is bad, then you are the one in a hundred or so that got shafted. IF this is the case, then it sucks to be you I guess. You seriously have taken what I said way out of context. There are many other people on this MB that obviously don't know a thing about what they are doing. Some people don't even know how to look for a vacuum leak, yet don't hesitate to scream "chip failure". You may be that exception like I said, but it doesn't happen to often. Also, you make it sound as if Speedtuning is the only company with issues regarding non-functioning ECU upgrades, well I can surely tell you that although it RARELY happens with any company, it does occur equally among all. I wouldn't solely base my opinion off what you read in a forum, but in reality I see each and every company having issues on "OCCASION". So again, take your family directed "US" comment and take a flying leap! I never said "EVERYONE", I said "SOME". I am starting to think you may be one of them at this point however, at least when it comes to exaggeration and sensitivity....hahhahah.
