Default Gonna get my Chippie!

So since my last post I have decided that I am going to start with the chip. AWE Tuning has the chip for my car (99.5 1.8tQ) listed for $300 and they say they can turn it around in 24 hrs. Part # is PGL30A.V03. This is the 91-93 octane program i think. This is the one I want, right?

Is this AWE company a reputable outfit? Please respond if you have used this chipset and/or company.

Cheers.

The chip you're looking at is GIAC.

They're a very reputable company. I happen to have the stage 2 GIAC running right now with the switcher program.

I didn't know the prices for chips are different based on year now.

Wish my 00 was a 99, haha. But that's going to be the best $300 you'll spend. Within a 20 mile radius of were I live there are about 4 shops that can do GIAC or APR tunes on the spot (one hour turn around). You might want to look into local shops as well.

I was shocked to see that it was only 3 bills. That seems low to me but I am not going to complain.

2Fast: When you say tunes, do you mean install the chip? Or must I run hotter/cooler plugs or something? I did a full tune up when I bought the car less than a month ago.

I am also considering the TIP CHIP upgrade from GIAC. Dont know if it is necessary but again it seems like a good deal.

Cheers.

Speed Tuning will be even less than that and they have almost exclusively positive reviews. Imagine...POWAR...for under $200 .

I just went to their website and the chip is $249. Maybe I am looking in the wrong place?

I also looked at the torque curve on the dyno results and am thinking, hmmm....

What i ment by a local shop doing a 'tune' was that they will pull out your computer (not hard) program it and put it back in within an hour. If you chip it put some bkre6's (not sure if thats them exactly do a search), and reset the gap. I would also advise a boost gauge and a dv valve that can hold the extra pressure such as the forge 007, or forge splitter valve.
