Good Purchase / Vin Check?
Hi - im new to this forum as i am in the market to purchase an Audi. Ive found a vehicle i like and was hoping someone could run the vin for me to see if there were any "monsters hiding" - A little about the car...'98 A4 2.8L V6 Pearl White w/ black leather interior. Appears to be super clean with no dents or rust, has 146K miles. Its being sold @ a dealer with a sticker price of $4995. Im convident i could get it for less but i'm not sure if its a good deal and what i need to look for as problematic areas. YOUR INPUT WOULD BE GREATLY APPREICIATED AS INEED A VEHICLE ASAP!! The vin is as follows: W A U E D 6 8 D 6 W A 0 0 0 2 7 9Could someone give me some input please? Thanks for your time
Let me tell you - carfax is worthless.
Will not tell you everything, only general stuff
It often overstates problems (small fenderbenders create redflags)
And the real serious problems are often not reported:
- Like serious repair work when the car was young and the insurance company would not total it (unreported single car accident...)
- Incorrect mileage (speedo head changes - even though the emission stations take down the mileage)
Doubt me? I have at least three specific examples, and have friends with many more.
