goodbye lower door molding
Never Enough its not so much if its original paint as much as it was the trim itself that was probably causing the rust. when i bought my car all 4 of the trim pieces were falling off and i didnt get new ones until last year. the problem with the original pieces was the tracks on the inside of them that slide onto the pegs was metal, and would rust away quickly. they changed all of that to plastic on the new ones i got but i didnt get to them in time and the old trim pieces began rusting part of my driverside door. i dont know if this will help in your situation just hoping to save you an unnecessary step
good to know that the newer ones have plastic tracks now that i have no way to attach them. i'm sticking to the no more trim idea. it will be nice to look at it everyday and know that i did my own body work. sadly though it is supposed to nasty here in michigan for the next couple days so i think i'm gonna have to wait a while before laying any primer/paint so i get best adhesion. i've got the primer, block and 320 grit in garage waiting for the sun to come out.
anybody have any idea how much paint to get for the lowers, bumper lowers, and bottom halves of the doors?

id like to do this as well, my trim is also falling off. what would be sweet are some S4 lowers
well, i get a better day than expected here in MI so i decided to lay on the primer. looks pretty good so far. here's an update.
school newspaper (about all it's good for) 3M green auto mask and a good directional breeze going through the garage all come together to help me out.

down the side. a couple of wet spots but i couldn't wait to show it off.

so far i've only got the drivers side done. it started getting chilly and I wanted to make sure the primer stuck. hopefully the passenger side can get done tomorrow and i can find a paint shop monday since i have the day off.
more to come.

i got them at the dealer. i think it was around $150 or so and i had been gluing my old ones back on every time they fell off so i figured it was time i stopped being cheap
