Yeah I have seen some tracks like that. NHRA helmet rule is for anything going faster then 14.00.

That sounds reasonable. I recall the first time I ever went to a test & tune with my first 89 Camaro RS (POS) I was 19 and lined up next to an 11 sec car. When the light turned green, that guy took off so fast, I was so shocked I forgot to go.
Used to have it on video, pretty funny, cause I'm like whooooo oh, I'm suppose to be going now. lol

Not really for Fire Safety, because if that was true they would force everyone to wear a fire suit. It is for safety but I would think more towards flying glass in case you crashed. But to me racing a car and shorts just dont belong together. Its like racing a bike with flip flops on. lol
. Let's call it leg protection.
