I just purchased the following item from ebay
and it seems it would fit to my A4 B5 model

But the problem is tht one of the mechanics I know told me the lines don't match.
Has anybody tried installing this or does anyone know about this item?

YES, depending on witch car you have..
i read somewhere that if you have a face-lift car that you will have to do some splicing and dicing...
but if you have a pre face-lift it should be plug and play?

Dis your 99 come with 1 piece headlights? pre-facelift and facelift cars were divided in 99 as Audi did a mid year update. If you have 2 piece they should be plug and play.
