Unfortunately 2.8's have basically no potential, unless you want to spend thousands on a supercharger or a custom turbo setup. exhaust, intake and headers (if you can even find headers for your car..) will make your car sound faster but barely actually feel faster. Some people with 30v 2.8's get chipped but that still only gives minimal gains. Don't plan on your 2.8 being much quicker than stock. Good job using search to find your answers unlike many noobs though.

Soooo let me get this straight.... You have all this money for a supercharger, custom exhust, headers, chip, and all the other things you listed, so why not just buy a 1.8t and mod the hell out of that? By all means, you definitely got a fantastic deal if you bought that '98 used with that low of mileage, but for the price of the supercharger and headers alone you could get a used 1.8t and have faaarrrr more modding potential.

If it was up to me, I would do everything that is listed here (supercharger, header, exhaust, intake, rims, and suspension) on a 2.8 liter. Remember building a car takes time, even years sometimes; you don't have to build it in a month and with this setup you will make close to 300 crank HP, more than most people have in their 1.8T, so do what you really want to do. Plus it would be cool to see a well built 2.8L A4 instead of just seeing 1.8Ts all the time.

That is a good point, I won't argue against that.

Not to mention that the price of a G1 or G2 blower has come down quite a bit on the second-hand market since PES dropped the retail price on a new one. A4Speed, didn't you get yours for around $2k? A couple grand for an 80hp increase is very much worth it, far more than spending that same money on a Speedtuning chip, headers, and catback (80ish hp vs 15 or so hp for the same money). When you're talking about spending money like the OP is talking, put it into something that'll really make a difference.

Yeah, if you want to do it, go ahead. more power to you. I would love to see someone take a 2.8 and really go to town on it just because they can. After all, half the fun of having these cars is making them what we want them to be. Go crazy man and keep us updated. Im excited to hear about this

LMAO!! I'm upset now man. I bought the 2.8 thinking that it was the better of the two cars (1.8t and 2.8) I guess I didn't really do to much research cause I have a 2.8L FWD Tiptronic Shift. I'm laughing but I'm kind of bummed out.

Please tell me all the Cons but also all the Pros of this engine so that I can have a better understanding of what may be my limitations when adding mods.

Oh and props aledelic42, I'm a grown *** man son, its not in my genetic make up to be a noob son. LMAO.

Haha i would say the biggest issues with that car are the transmission and the drive. I hate automatic so thats that and FWD with the torque from a supercharged V6 would just cause smoke all day. quattro FTW

Good looking out AC, are there any Pros. Cause I don't want to fly down the street like some of these *** clowns in their ricers but I do want some get up when I step on the gas.

I picked my G1 supercharger up for $2100. If you want to learn more about the 2.8 and supercharging, visit: www.scaudi.com

I haven't dyno'd my car and don't know when i will be able to, so i don't know what i am putting down as far as numbers are concerned. Currently, i am boosting around 6.5-7psi. I have a custom FMIC on stand-by that will be installed on the G1 at the end of April. I expect to see increased performance, but will lose about 1psi with the FMIC mounted. I can compensate for that psi loss by running a slightly different pulley. I won't do headers as it's just not worth it.

Given everything that i've done, i've pretty much hit the 2.8 mod-ceiling
