Default headlight range control module

I am having a very hard time finding information on replacing a xenon range control module. All of the manuals I have only show standard headlight information and not xenon. I have a stock xenon system on my 2001 a4 avant 2.8. Both lights have decided to look down. They look like lazy eyes and only shine about 15 feet ahead of the car. i have read that it is most likely the range control module. The dealer want $300 just for the part. Does anyone know where this part is located and where I can find a replacement other then the dealer? Any help is appreciated.

Not sure what the ballast is? I have OEM HID lighting and fromwhat I have been reading,I understand that the autoleveling system controlswhat level the headlights adjust too. this is done through the range control module and the leveling sensors in the front and back. This problem was slow to fully happen. it would adjust back to normal after I cycled the lights on and off. Now they arejust aiming down about 15 feet infront. i do not see theadjustment when they are turned on. Any ideas?

that sounds like the convenience feature the b6+ had. the b5 didn't have that like i said. the switch controls the power that goes to the ballasts that goes to the bulb. the headlight assembly has these white plastic screws that you can see when you pop the hood that adjust the level of the beam.

Then I guess how do these fall out of alignment? Do they have another module that controls them or do they just go bad? Better yet, how do I fix this problem? Thanks again.

^^THIS IS CORRECT
It was an option and didn't necessarily come with HIDs. I have it without HIDs.
The only thing that comes to mind is if you can space the arm that rotates the light, but I honestly have not looked on how to do that or if it's possible.

I have installed the Euro/Mexican switch and now have manual control over this. It is nice to point the lights down and run highs and lows together on heavily potholed roads or just to dip them for nasty weather.
