Default Heated Door Lock Control Module has gone belly up?

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

I came back out of Lowe's yesterday, and my key fob didn't unlock the doors as usual. Unlocked the door with the key, jumped in and hit the unlock button on the driver's door....nothing. All doors remained locked.

From that point on, I can no longer unlock or lock all doors using either the button on the door, or the key fob. I can, however, unlock each door manually using the door handle on the inside.

I can still roll down all the windows with the key in the driver's door lock, too.

I consulted my Bentley manual, and it would seem I need something called a Heated Door Lock Control Module.

Does that seem correct to you?

No, I haven't checked any fuses yet, but I'll do that today. I haven't cracked the owners manual yet to see if there's a separate fuse for the power windows. Anyone know?

Sounds like the central locking module, located in the back right part of your trunk behind the trunk liner, right by the passenger taillight. It would be best to scan it for codes and see whats up, its possible its malfunctioning (probably because of water) or the pneumatic pump may have shattered. Both seem to be fairly common. If you dont have a VAG COM I would start by seeing if the pump has any water damage.

Thanks Dallas. I just checked the fuse and that's fine.

Are you saying that I can actually scan the central locking module for codes? Hmm, I don't have VAG-COM yet, but I suppose I'll have to bump that up the list.

Is the pneumatic pump built into the module, or is that a separate piece?

It definitely sounds like the pneumatic pump is shot. I went into the trunk and found the module, but I was too chicken to try to get it out. But after reading the tech article that you posted, this is definitely my problem....as the alarm still beeps when I try to lock the locks with the remote. Time to see if my Audi mechanic can find a pump at a junkyard like this guy did.

Thanks very much for that link to the AudiWorld tech article!

No problem, I have a module with a damaged brain but a working pump if you need one, send me a PM if you want it. I dont know what its worth 20 bux probably and shipping would be cheap since we both live in MN, someone chime in if they dont think 20 is fair. Dont worry about getting it out, just disconnect the negative terminal on the battery, remove the electrical connectors on the pump and use a flat head screwdriver to disconnect the air lines. If you want my pump I just would want you to make sure its the pump and not the electrical brain first.

I'll PM you if I need your module. $20 sounds fair to me, but I guess I'll have to wait and see what the verdict is. I'm taking it into my Audi mechanic this week.
