Default Heater controls and more

I have a 1996 a4 Quattro I found at my local junkyard a newer a4, around 04 (the guy I spoke to didn't know exact year) I am looking if possible to upgrade to the newer style armrest, and center controls, if so is it a really difficult change?

Ps. As always I apologize for my bad grammar

That's a B6 A4 and no, the dash and cockpit is completely different. You can swap to a facelift B5 (99.5-01.5) for a cleaner look.

That's the one I'm talking about. Follow this guide and you'll have all the info you need for doing the work, as well as a full list of what parts you need. I did it on mine last year - the link is complete and gives you everything. One addition I'd make though - you'll extend the wires for the rear defroster and plug them into the switch on the new setup. The terminals are very close, so use the female blade terminals that have the insulated plastic cases over them so the wires don't short against each other.

Here's the link:

Also out of curiosity can I pull the steering wheel and install it in my car too?.... Or will the steering column fit in my car?... I like the key style and I want to switch it all into my car

Since you have a '96 it's gonna be quite a bit of work to swap over the centre console and steering wheel. The HVAC controls will need wiring work to make it fit, and you can't swap over the steering wheel because the spline size is different, you'll have to swap over the whole column.
