i just bought a 98 a4 quattro 1.8t
i got a problem when it warms up get a wierd vibration and no ecu communication

when cold no codes present

pls help

Do you get the vibration when accelerating? Cruzing? Idle? And what do you mean not ECU communication? Are you saying you can't call into the ECU with vag-com? We need some more details.

Any mods on the car?

nothing works i know someone with vag com still dont work

 

i got the same car and the same problem what it is is the power output stage on the intake its sending misfires to the cylinders

 

i dont think its a misfire of the cylinders engine seems to be runnig really good

feels wierd i know cars but this one really has me stumped

 

Vibrations could be anything, and how can you be so confident when you don't know if his CEL is flashing, you havent diagnosed his car, etc. You are just throwing a problem/solution out there because it happend to you. That is not the kind of help we need around here. Thanks anyways.

If your scanner works only when it's "cold" (makes absolutely no sense), are you able to see retrieve any fault codes?
People that "know cars" and need help provide many more details than you have provided us with.

Get the code to your radio to see if it works. If it doesnt, someone may have had an aftermarket radio installed at one time, and then put the stocker back in. If the stock radio wiring was messed with, it caninhibitcommunication to the ecu from the OBD port.
