Help about Engine/trans Mounts.
Replaced snub mount on my 01 1.8t front track yesterday. It seemed to help a bit but occasionally they shifter still clunks into drive from park. Before i replaced it i would get a loud bang from the transmission at low speed/rpm downshifts from time to time. I haven't test drove it that much to be able to tell if that problem has been solved. I am still getting a vibration or shaking (side to side i think) at any speed and especially after hard acceleration. I looked and it doesn't seem like the engine mounts are bad or the trans mounts. What do you guys think? SHould i change out the trans mounts next? What could be causing the vibration/shaking still? Any help would be much appreciated. Nick.
Yeah, those were my next task. I can't see anything leaking from the engine mounts so i assume those are ok. The vibration started after i changed the cv axles 6 months ago. I dont see how those are a reason other than they were so sloppy before i changed them that i never felt the shaking before. I would assume after the axle changes, the vibration was more pronounced becasue the axles are new? I have read here other people having the same problem. Any other ideas besides the trans mounts?
