ORIGINAL: techbod

many garages use a sump pump which extracts the old oil from the dip stick pipe ( not the best way by any means ) but if they do it while flushing then it better than the drain plug because it get all the crap out ( expensive dealer toy ) and you pay for it, you could heat the drain plug till the weld crap breaks up but then your left with the problem that the other guy had so you will need to retain the hole and fit a new bigger plug or helicoil it
yeah that's the way it's done on sterndrive and straight inboard engines for boats. expensive pump set-up but you can buy a cheapy that hooks to a drill for emergencies. Just make sure the oil is damn warm. you also might consider a smaller tube to run right to the bottom of the pan if you don't want to leave the half quart in the pan that the dipstick tube won't reach.

I check my oil once or twice a week... The oil (I was told) was changed before the car was auctioned. So far syn. oil looks ok (like it's been there for 5k miles), it isn't dark or burned.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I am taking it to the audi specialists and see if they can help, otherwise I might just to the time- sert or new pan.
