yesterday i was just driving around and went to the car wash, i have a '98 a4 2.8 and after the wash i just started it up to head out and it seemed like it was idling really low and gonna bog out, so i just drove 50m. and then when i shifted into second the engine started to stutter when accelerating and the check engine light came on. when i just let it idle it would bog down to about 500rpm and then raise a little but it really didn't sound good and came out of nowhere. any help on what this could be would be great.[/align]

did you get a check engine light? Also, did you wash under the hood? If so, you may have a grounding problem now.

 

Go to AutoZone and have them scan the ECU for codes (it's free). Post the codes and we'll go from there.

 

i didnt wash under the hood i wash my car usually once a week and this one was just a quick two minutes and i just sprayed down the windshield and the grille but nothing that i havent ever done and i cant drive it anywhere i just tried to start it up again and i drove about 50 feet and it stalled out on me, it sounds real bad
