Default Help Please? Noise in my 98 Audi A4

I have a 98 Audi a4 2.8 FWD MT.
Ever since I bought it, I've had a "whirling " noise coming from either the bottom or the exhaust. Only happens when accelerating at high RPM on neutral, 1st, 2nd and sometimes 3rd gear. Also noticed when that happens, I get some white kind of greyish smoke out of the exhaust.

Please Help?
Thanks

That would cause the white smoke? I don't know if I'm describing the noise correctly. Whirling is not the best description, more like continuous popping LOL i have no idea. I'm going to try and get a video of it.
Thanks

Went to my bodyshop to get the ECU out of my car...
While I'm showing the mechanic the noise that it makes when revving high, I star getting a little smoke out of the engine. Couldn't figure out where exactly it was coming from but looked like something was leaking.
In this picture I will give you somewhat of an idea where it's coming from.

the only way to avoid removing the engine covers is if you can tell what type of smoke it is, you cant do that, so the next thing to do is figure out where its coming from. to do that you need to look. if something is in your way, remove it, just remember how to put it back. saying "theres smoke coming from the drivers side of the car" doesnt give enough information.

it could be just residual oil on the outside of the engine burning off, or it could be a leaking valve cover, or power steering pump/lines, or leaky oil filter, or something is rubbing on a belt and causing smoke, or its just some water evaporating... the list goes on.

Gabeguimaraes, check out T3Brk exhaust smoke thread, as it sounds like you two have a similar problem. as for the sound the way that you are describing it, it sounds like you have an exhaust leak somewhere.
