Default Help with small oil/tranny leak

This is on my 99 A4 2.8 Q.

I've noticed a drop or two of oil on my painted garage floor. It can only see the spots if the car sits over night. It doesn't drip just idling etc. Makes it hard to find the leak that way.

Either way, I got under the car and noticed it was leaking on the passenger side. Basically right next to the transmission pan on a some fins(think they were heat fins to cool off things). I wiped the area clean and started the car and watched for oil etc...nothing. I turned the car off and let it sit for a while. I came back and looked again. The area was dry but I did notice there was fluid comeing from where the axle bolts on to the side of the transmission. Between the two metals I could see very little fluid. I took a rag and jammed it up in the small crease and it was fluid. A lot of luck seeing the fluid there, that's for sure. It was where the large bolts go into the tranny beween those to metals.

My question is, is there a common seal that goes bad that will let fluid leak through that area?

Its transmission fluid, not motor oil that is leaking correct? If it is tranny fluid how can I fill it up? I've read we dont have tranny fluid dipsticks or a place to fill it up back up. I'm still fairly new to the Audi world so excuse my dumb question above.

Any thoughts/suggestions will be helpful.

I'm looking to fix the leak, but also need to top of the fluid that it's leaking till I got time to fix the leak.

Thanks,

I just had similar problem. leaking from the drive shaft right out from tranny box. However, it's not tranny, it's the transfercase I had the seal replaced (1.5 hours labor) by local indy.
