Default help with stock bose cd player

When i insert a cd into the stock bose player it attempts to read the disc and then comes back "err 1" . I looked in the manual but it wasn't of much help. I just got the car two days ago. Help?

Make sure the disc itself is clean of fingerprints, smudges, dirt, etc. I know when I first got my A4 I had trouble with the Bose playing burned discs. Use a quality media like Memorex, Verbatim, TDK, try to avoid little brands like Dynex. You can also clean the laser lens by using a cleaning disc from Memorex that has little bristles on it to remove any dust contaminates.

are you trying to put in an MP3 cd or a normal cd?

I've tried both types. Neither seems to work. I wouldn't even say the cd's are that scratched to be honest...

I normally don't use CDs but I haven't found a way to hook up my ipod that I like yet. running a cable from the trunk to the front of the car doesn't seem like the best route to take.

Do you get that error from a regular store bought CD? If your having problems with a regular CD that has been cleaned then the laser may be going out.

Cantdrive55's suggestion on burn media is very good. I will also add to try burning at a slower speed if burned CDs are what your trying to read in the unit.
