Default help - the turbo glowing

97 Audi A4 1.8TQ

The turbo always glowing while normal driving.

When I scanned the car via vag com, there is no falut code. but readiness 15:

o2 sensor heating passed

o2 sensor: failed or incomplete
Evaporative Emission: Failed or incomplete
Cat converter: failed or incomplete

Does this mean I need to replace both O2 sensors and Cat converter?

Thanks!

Mine glows on a daily basis, its no big deal. Check 02 harness/connections, and all vaccum lines. If you can, pull the cat and look through it, if you can, all good, if its clogged/broken then its obviously bad

your 02 sensors are getting old and are going bad. you probably have a small evap system leak too. the cats should be good though.

Readiness doesnt necessarily mean you have a problem... It just might mean you have to go through a couple driving cycles before it says complete or "passed" (all of that stuff is for emissions testing). If you had a problem with you cats efficiency the car would throw a diagnostic code, if one of your o2 sensors was bad the same thing would happen, or you car would run poorly. Basically look at it as Incomplete, you definitely dont need a new cat or o2 sensor because of that.

that kriptonik, always good for teh lolz.

tony, glowing is fine. dentist drill-type noises are bad, smoke is bad, fire is bad, explosions are bad. As Dallas said, you might not need a new cat yet, it could just be mad because your pre-cat O2 sensor is on the fritz. Try replacing that and then re-scanning in a coupla weeks.

Default culprit

is ICM problem, got random misfire, after change the coil packs, still random misfire. Change the ICM then ok. Thanks, every body, but I changed the Pre-Cat O2 sensor anyway the car is way much smoother.
