hi guys just got my head off to do head gasket and found this was broken off can u tell me what it is and what it does . i traced it to the side of the block on the right hand side and back to the dump valve on the intake cheers

 

that is the worst picture ever. it looks gooey like pcv valve. google vacuum routing and it should give you better idea. just a suggestion
