i have a 30v motor from an 01 A4, im dropping it in my 96 A4 which had its Camshaft position sensor or "crown" sensor attached to the engine block, on the 30v, its orginal set up in the 01 A4 was to have this sensor mounted to the 5spd tranny but im trying to aviod destroying my interior and use my 96 A4 5 spd.... where am i to mount this sensor? Any help greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

a camshaft position sensor is in the head, attached somewhere on the cam, hence the term - camshaft position sensor.

in the 01 the CAMSHAFT position sensor is not mounted on the TRANSMISSION, otherwise it would be called a transmission position sensor. so please clarify what your talking about and you might possibly get a helpful response. swapping engines isnt something to just dive into and figure out the rest as you go. you should have thought about this problem before you even picked up a wrench.

the thing about doing custom swaps and work like this is you need to be able to figure out the little stuff like this on your own. theres usually no one to tell you exactly how to do it because its your own custom project.
