Default HID Headlight Out

Driver side HID headlight is out and I tried replacing it with a new one... $77 later and it still does not work. The passenger headlight works fine. I haven't looked at the wiring, but could it be as simple as a fuse? Are there separate fuses for each headlight? What else might the problem be?

I think there are separate fuses but I don't have an HID model so I'm not 100% sure.

There are separate fuses for each headlight, would be worth looking into. Also, when you say you replaced "it", are you referring to the bulb? The ballast could also be on the fritz.

Yeah, I replaced the bulb. How can I tell whether the ballast is bad?

You should be able to swap ballasts from side to side.

Well I'd start with the fuse first. If the fuse is good, swap the bulb from the other side that you know works. If it still doesn't light up, its a safe bet the ballast is bad.

My HIDs are picky, I had my HID fog go out (one of them) after being on for 5 minutes with the car sitting. About an hr later I tried them and it came on. Check the wiring and what not

The OEM ballasts are not cheap. You can get a chinese one for like $10 from vvme.com but you'd have to hack it and wire it in yourself
