Default Hiding boost leak

So I was taking an onramp pretty spiritedly when I heard something start going clack clack clack really loud for a few seconds fro the rear passenger side. I straightened out and it stopped. looked to see smoke or anything, nothing. So I started to get on the pedal to merge, and I realized the car was sluggish. In fourth it was only getting like 16 lbs as versus the 20 I was running when I was pinned in 4th.

I heard the boost leaking as I got off the freeway and was pulling into a gas station. Couldn't locate the source and all of my intercooler piping was still connected. I took it home and had my friends listen while I brake boosted, and It was coming from around the turbo/diverter valve area. I have a forge splitter, so I figured that wasn't the problem, but took it off anyway and put the stock broken dv back on. It boosted 5lbs max at any gear. put the forge back on and still maxes out at 16, and the car bogs horribly when you get on it and boost that much. It threw a check engine light for long term fuel trim rich as well. I reset that but, I know there has to be a boost leak somewhere. problem is I cant find it.

I took brake cleaner and sprayed it on all the clamps except for the one the connects to the turbo (didn't want fire) and nothing changed. But there is deff. a leak, I just cant find it. does this sound like something any of you have heard of before?

I wouldn't use the stock dv as a comparison because it can't stand up to a k04 tune and as you said it's broke...?

It could be a bad coil pack (or cracked spark plug insulator) that has not yet registered as a misfire. A 4lb boost leak probably wouldn't make the car bogg down and react like this. A bad coil pack or plug would, especially when you are trying to get on it hard. I had a cracked plug insulator (the white porcelin part) and these were my same symtoms. It took a lot of driving around for it to finaly register the misfire (crack crack crack) and make the CEL blink. Plus you have AEB engine which the coil packs are ticking time bombs anyways.

The ecu should scale back boost/timing, etc. if not put you into limp mode if a rich codition is present.

I would say for finding leaks this has been my #1 way of finding them!!! real easy to locate when there is no other sounds but leaking air and since the car isnt running you can move you hands all over to try and feel the leaking air.

+1 on the tester. Check any hoses that have bends in them. I had a pcv hose with a 90 degree bend by the manifold that sprung a leak.

Yeah I can hear the leak, and I just replaced a coil last week, I know for sure what a misfire feels and sounds like.

But im going to do that test tomorrow after work and see if I can find the leak that way. If not, ill have to look around and see what else I can find. This happened a few weeks ago but it was the pvc pip I used at one point till I could get a metal pipe. It bent inwards on itself making the hole smaller for the air to go though making it louder.

I might be way off. Whenever I hear about symptoms that are remotely close to something that I've experienced, I get all excited and **** my pants.
