High mileage A4's check in!
Turns out my hood latch sensor was bad, always detecting that my hood was open, thereby preventing the locking procedure from completing (ie. alarm system not getting engaged). If the remote lock procedure is initiated but not completed X number of times in a row, regardless of the time period, then the ignition switch gets disabled by the "comfort module", aka the lock vacuum pump. The hood latch sensor is essentially useless. It serves no purpose whatsoever. It doesn't warn you if the hood is open. I don't know why it even exists on these cars. But if you unplug it, then the ECU thinks the hood is always closed, so that solved the problem once and for all.
99 2.8 Quattro just turned 170,000 miles. Runs great still, performing regular maintenance on it. Interior is still in great shape, seats and all but the center console screen barely works.
Exterior is pretty decent, but the drivers side door and drivers side back panel and the pillar it's attached to the clear coat is wrecked on it, looks horrible and makes me sad. Luckily it's gray, so it doesn't stand out too bad unless you're a couple feet from it.
Love the car, will drive it until it doesn't want to go any more.

1999 A4 1.8t (no more t) FWD about to trip 450,000 miles. That's around the world 18times or, to the moon and back. Completely reactive maintenance and i've beat the crap out of it. I once went 3 years without an oil change (it has self changing oil
)
On the second clutch (i killed the first one at 130K doing e-brake burnouts; i claim being young and dumb on that one)on the 3rd t-belt, and the ac doesn't work. Daily work commuter, it wont die...

Yep, every since the Audi certified warranty expired, i decided I was going to put as little as possible into it and see how much I could get out of it.
It's at 449 and some change now. After 450K, i think i'll treat it to a new t-belt and water pump
Ive owned it since about 150k now im at 174k runs prefect. Only changed spark plugs and it was a northern car so the ball joints and a coil blew but thats just from the salt and bad roads. I used it everyday. Literally it doesn't go a day without driving lol.
Only thing thats major is the ac fan stopped working and need to replace the whole exhaust system because check engine is on cause of it. Had to get new engine because timing belt snapped while driving luckily i was in town at the time! ! AC not working but everything else is! ...... :-)
