Lightbulb High Mileage k04 engine stress?

So I've sold my a6 and am now moving into a *MINT* Condition 99.5 a4 with a 5-speed and the 1.8T, everything about this car is perfect minus the mileage.

My question for the experienced users of this forum is whether or not it would be a good idea to bolt on a k04? The car has 200k miles on it but has been babied its whole life.

I want to make it nice and snappy with:

k04 bolt on
APR 93 octane tune
diverter
new turbo inlet hosing
2.5" xs-exhaust

Is this a bad idea? I do plan on owning this car for quite awhile...

All answers will be apreciated! THANKS!

Check the engine out first

that much power + 200k engine no 100% = kaboom

it should be good for a while if the engine is more sound

How do you KNOW the car was babied its whole life? Unless its been in your family since new, that's a dangerous assumption.

New timing system, new plugs, leakdown test, compression check. If all that is done and the numbers are good, then you'll probably be OK.

Interesting, Thanks for the responses guys! I'm probably going to take it slow with this car. Starting off by doing the timing belt, stage 2 clutch from ecs, and the 2.5" exhaust.

Being that money is short I might just get an apr flash and diverter and call it good for awhile.

This should bring the 1.8T alive and make it a relatively fun car to drive without worrying about the well being of the engine too much. Thanks again guys, we'll see what actually ends up happening!

I don't see a problem bolting on a K04. In all honesty these turbos don't flow that much more than a K03. The big thing with the K04 is the larger turbine shaft. The fact that this shaft is beefier allows the turbo to hold up better to higher boost levels. This is good for chipped cars since the turbo is built to handle more boost. You might see 50whp difference over a K03 and that's with the proper K04 tune.

I ran a K04 on my B5 with the factory tune and never had a single issue.
