High RPM problem with a '96 A4 2.8 quattro.
I'm looking at a used Audi and everything is fine except while pulling out for a test drive I realized the car revs high, to about 2,300 RPM, before it starts moving. It feels like it needs to shift but it doesn't. It's an automatic. Is anyone familiar with this problem?
Edit: The o2 sensor is being replaced, so could that be the problem?

i doubt an a2 sensor would control the contact between engine load and the tranny... the problem is something with the tranny, because if you hit the gas and its not moving, its stuck. lol, maybe a really, really, really frozen caliper? does it roll easy in neutral? try throwing it in neutral and see if it stops prematurely to a halt. i don't mean going fast, like 5mph. i've never had any tranny problems with mine (knock on wood), just hit 125k the night before last. i have flushed it a few times since i got it, once when i first got it because i bought it 5 or 6 years ago with only 35k miles on it, and then once again when i got the car stuck in a flood. maybe the ebrake was on? that's really high to be pushing before something moves, i'd definitely look into it before handing over any money.
