A proper celebration indeed.

Everyone knows the 2.8's are the marathoners, but how long do you guys think the average 1.8 goes?

my AWM 1.8 is about 158k old. My old emergency mechanic had a AEB with 305k on the clock i think (it's been like 2 years since I've talked to the guy).

I'm just over 232K miles with my 1.8t, and it's for sale. Still runs like a champ.

no i have a 1.8.. i would think that 1.8's have a harder time lasting as long as these 2.8's are..

Hi, newbie here.
I have a 99.5 1.8T B5 with a mind blowing 303,879 miles as of last nite. Same engine from when I bought it new. Only major thing I replaced was the tranny that crapped out at 296,000 because the front pump failed. That car has never missed a scheduled maintenance service and thats prolly why the engine still purrs like a baby. Tried to sell it and I was getting garbage offers.... so I'm gonna ride this baby to the ground.
Going for 320,000 !!

I'm not in the high mileage club with the A4 yet but if my old 5000 TQ wagon was any indication I'll get there. That thing blew all expectation away and that is an understatement.
