Default Honestly, WTF?

So of all things, apparently I've broken my inside driver's door opener handle. It still works (fortunately I don't have to be ghetto and reach out the window to use the outside handle to open the door), but it's really loose and it rattles and wiggles, and when you pull it it'll move farther than it's supposed to.

I'm going to get in there after work and see if I can figure out what's up - anyone else ever have this happen? It's bugging the hell out of me because I notice it every time I go to get out of the car!

I think its pretty common, mine's loose but it doesn't rattle while I'm driving or anything.

there's a spring that retracts the handle that is broken. take off the door panel and you'll see. get one from a parts car or somehow replace the srping

Me too. In fact, I forgot all about it until you brought it up.... THANKS.

Mines not very lose, it just doesn't retract fully.

Oh boy if only I was a pervert, I'd quote all of you in my sig. Out of context, of course.

I had a guy tell me it's somewhat of a common problem, but it's a cheap fix. Not sure on the DIY-status, I don't think anybody has written one up for it yet. But if you decide to, post a writeup of how you did it!

I just fixed this on my car. Remove the door handle assembly from the door panel (remove door panel, turn it over, unhook the latch cable from the back of the handle, take out the single screw holding the assembly in, unplug the lock connector harness, and unclip it from the door). You'll see a small spring on the backside of the door handle, and it'll be broken. If you can find a spring like that at a store, buy a bunch and sell them on AF, because it's a small, tightly-wound spring with about a 1/2" extension off each end to pin it in place. I had mine break a few weeks ago, and grabbed the whole assembly off of an A4 at the scrapyard and replaced the whole thing.

Right on. I know it's not a big deal, it's just annoying because it's one of the little details that only I notice. Thanks for the tips, Upstate!
