Default Horn Issue

hey guys

I had some work done on my car and that required to remove the airbag to replace some other stuff as well as the steering wheel wire ribbion. I noticed today that my horn doesnt work and i was wondering how to remove the air bag and which wire is the horn?

Thank you

BTW Car is a 2000 Audi A4 2.8 Quattro S Line

If yo feel around on the back side of the two spokes at 3 and 9 o'clock, you'll feel two little screw holes. They're small torx bolts (T-15 maybe?). Unscrew those and the airbag will flop out. Be very careful!!! I believe the wiring for the horn is underneath the airbag.

So i really dont need to remove the entire steering wheel to get to the horn wire? Just remove those two screws and the air bag will come out? And before i do that unplug my battery right?

correct. they should be t-25 tho. The bolts tend to stay in the steering wheel so don't worry about pulling them out just feel for when the airbag is loose.

Nope, the only reason you would need to pull the whole wheel off would be to get to the levers and switches and **** behind it. I don't remember which wires are what colors, but there will be a 2-wire plug on the back of the airbag, and the horn wiring will be whatever else is in that little cavity. I would definitely unplug your battery if i were you, airbags scare the **** out of me. Couple things to keep in mind:

-If you disconnect your battery, you're going to need the radio code to get your head unit out of safe mode when you hook everything back up
-Static electricity can still set off an airbag, so don't go shuffling around your living room with it.

Yup, get a grounding wrist strap or at least touch the frame of the car for several seconds before handling the airbag. Play it safe. And on my car the airbag screws are T30 torx.

Okay straight so Basically i do this

1) Disconnect the Battery
2) Touch the frame for several seconds before handling the air bag
3) Remove the 2 screws
4) Remove air bag
5) Connect horn plug
6) Screw back in
7) Connect Battery
8) be an a$$ with my horn

Thanks guys

Another question, i had a heater core done, i had the ABS light, Airbag light on solid and the brake light flashing. I am meeting up with some one in my area that has a Vag-Com and will reset the sensors. What a problem i have is for some reason the Audi Self Check(The ones for the lights, windshield wiper fluid, etc) keeps coming on and my Dashboard will only stay on Miles to empty and not change to anything else like it used too. Any ideas?
