Default Horn not working/ Which wire is the GROUND

1996 quattro 2.8

horn does not work. heard/read the ground can sometimes be funny...but...which is the ground! ( YES, I NEED A BOOK< BAD)

There is the Airbag switch got it.

There is a wire that is a ground to the plate/bolt that hold the airbag/cover on, to the left.

Then on the right is a wire that thats on a clip and goes down the column.

Are any of these the HORN?? I dont even get a peep out of it. I need to test horn as well. Ive read its usually UNDER the Driver side front end??

I get a horn in the REAR sounding when the alarn goes on so I guess they are not the same one.

Thanks!

Thats for '97 and up A4's... '96 wiring in different.

Have you checked the horn relay and ignition switch? Power runs through both to beep the horns.

The Coil Side of the relay is: Yel/blk from ignition to relay, brn/yellow turning to blk at horn button, to ground. In '96 all grounds to the chassis that know of are Brown.

I should have known, theres a dam relay for EVERYTHING these days!!

What happen to the good old days......ground = a HORN...no ground Doesnt! HaHa...

I assume the relay in under the dash just next to the fuse panel? Will check there next.

Thanks

Car starts ane runs fine but you say still a PORTION of the Ignition relay may be a culprit! ok.
