Huge differences in procedure depending on if it's a 2.8 or a 1.8T. We need details like that to answer the question...

I changed mine one time by pulling the coolant tank up out of the way and that it. But my 1.8t has a different set of accessories as yours. Just look at it for more than a minute and you'll figure it out lol

My A4 2.8 is my garage right now in service position ( front end off_ )
First time I had to do it, its really not really that hard.. Takes only about 20-30 minutes.. Make sure you have a Torx heads allens will not get you by.. 2 bolts under wheel wells, 6 on top ( i didnt have to take my lights out like i see everyone do) and the 2 main bolts under the outside black vents.. Then you "pop it off"

Im pretty sure it way easier on your 1.8. Sorry for not helping.. Alternator job is the easy get in there and figure it out.. Disconnect your battery!
