Default How to Control it.???

Ok i got the boost gauge in now.. i need a boost controller... which one seems more predictable.. a manual one or an electronic one??

How much lbs of boost does a stock 1.8t usually get..??? im showing from 9 to 10 ..

Whats the recommended amount so as to not blow the turbos..

manual is cheaper. electric is better. on a stock turbo, i would just get a manual. stock boost varies between the years. im guessing you have a 2000 or 2001 since you are boosting 9-10 psi. when you get the mbc, i'd recommend the turbo xs hpbc, don't forget to do the diode mod, or you could mess up your engine. once you do that though, you can boost 20psi no prob

dont get an ebay boost controller, they may be 13$ but they are horrible, spend a little more and get something that actually works good. i had a TurboXS Manual Boost Controller when i was running stock boost, i was able to get it to 10-11 psi perfectly, im chipped now so i hooked up my n75 and removed my MBC and im boosting 17-18psi

and chaos isnt the diode mod only for like 2000.5+, he didnt say what year he had, so he might or might not be able to do it

if he's boostin 9-10 stock he's got a k03s which means he has a MAP sensor as well

If you reinstall the mbc, you can hold boost longer and also turn it up another 2-4psi

It is used to keep the ecu from seeing higher reading causing it to close the throttle as a safety. This should never be done using a MBC because if it fails for any reason you lose the safety of keeping the car from over boosting on a dbw car.

MBC's dont work well on the K03/K04 because it causes the small turbo to have a on/off feeling and cause surging issues at part throttle. If you want more boost buy a aftermarket chip, not only will it give you more boost it will change the fueling of the car increasing your MPH for fwy driving.

Fuel maps and timing is key. A diode and mbc can't magicaly change those things.
