Default How do the front brake lines comes off? Rubber ones

Hey guys,

I'm trying to get the front brake lines(short rubber ones) off but I cant figure out how that clip/nut thing works? Do you just unscrew that nut or something? What is the clip for? I cant seem to get it off...

Thanks

Here is a picture of the line I'm taking about:

The line just to the right of that yellow box. How do I unclip it?!

Use a line wrench to undo the nut. If you use a regular box end wrench then be very careful not to strip it. And don't muscle it back on, they don't need to be torqued like crazy.

Note: he means a flare nut wrench. And don't buy a crappy one of those because I've had them flex and ruin stuff...

Looks like it's the same as the other cars I've worked on in that there seems to be a clip around the connection to the bracket (NOT what you've highlighted but to the lower right of it) and you use the flare nut wrench to get the line off.

No no that was just a picture I found. Yeah my regular wrench was stripping it I may have to go get a line wrench. It seems to be corroded on there pretty bad.

Try Aerokroil or PB Blaster. Obviously this is one that you shouldn't torch, though. If you screw it up too badly then you'll have to replace the line or cut that end off, take off the old flare nut, put new one on and flare it.

I'd get a Snap On/Matco/other high-end brand. Flare nut wrenches are important to have good quality. Try Ebay or something. I had a Great Neck one from Autozone... useless junk. Stripped stuff worse than my normal Craftsman wrenches.
