How do i know if my ecu is already chipped?
I was kind of whipping around last night and noticed i wasnt hitting a rev limiter when i feel i should have. Where is it supposed to limit? If limiter is gone or lifted is it chipped? Ive never driven another a4 so i cant tell if it feels faster or not. Its a 99 1.8t quattro 5 spd if that mskes a difference. It has absolutely no supporting mods sooo..,(unless it has a dv i havent checked.
Seriously though, some tuners tag the ECU or chip with a decal - if yours doesn't have that, you'll need a boost gauge (which you should have anyhow, no matter what). Stock is around 9psi, chipped will be more like 15-16.
Hey guys, i think he's talking about REDLINE, not the speed governor.
And I've had a chip where the redline was adjusted.
But i'm pretty sure chipping companies don't adjust that to much.
i'm not sure where stock is, but mine hits at 7k

Im fairly sure limiter isnt at 130 as ive reached 135mph in my tdi and it still had more to go!(and its not chipped)
You're right about redline - IIRC it's 6200 and the chip will take it somewhere above 6500. As for speed limiters, the speedometer isn't the most accurate instrument normally when you get way up there. My 300ZX indicated ~157 at a time that my GPS was showing 151...
Yeah sorry guys I was talking about redline. I think I went to about 6500 then shifted and never hit the rev limiter. I cant really tell if its slow or really ****** slow cuz before this I drove a explorer.
only way to know, as stated, is to get a boost gauge. again, this is necessary either way.
