how do u check the maf sensor to tell if its good or not
can u check the maf sensor with a multimeter to determine if its good or not? my car runs in limp mode untill its nice and cool out or a damp day im thinkn maf ne ideas or ne help on figuring out how to diagnos the maf sensor? thanks... 2001 a4 1.8t
if its in limp mode cahnces are you have a cel run a scan tool on it, it may also be the tranny acting up. you can check it with a multimeter but i cant remember the resistance values. best thing to do is take it to autozone and have them scan it for codes.
you can log MAF readings in vagcom and see if they are within spec. have you scanned for codes yet? the MAF going bad generally wouldnt put the car into limp mode, just make it run like crap.
my MAF died completely july 3rd at 122k miles. since i replaced it ive gained 4mpg. it was probably on its way out for the last 20k miles and i didnt even know it. the car just started acting like the intake hose was unplugged or something when it finally died.
